One of the main focuses of The Victoria Park Project is to provide engaging activities for children young people and schools, giving them a sense of ownership and pride over the park. These activities will also shape how the park will look and how children and young people will be able to interact with it in the future. Young people will have the opportunity to learn more about the heritage and nature of the park, as well as contribute to its conservation. Activities will include a sculpture trail, social media takeovers, bench designing, music making, resources for schools, and much more.
Teachers and youth leaders that would like more information about activities for schools and youth groups contact Nicola the Youth Involvement Co-ordinator nicola.priest@ashford.gov.uk.
Street Art in the Park is back for August 2022!
Young people aged 11 - 18 are invited to take part in designing and making new event banners for Victoria Park. Young People will work with professional artists Hello Murals and learn street art skills including screen printing, tie-dyeing and spray painting.
Workshops will cover the complete stages of working as a street artist/mural artist, including running your own business, planning and designing street art, qualifications to consider, and the wider scale opportunities of what street art can cover.
Hello Murals previously designed and installed the large ‘We Victoria Park’ mural on the nursery and toilet building in the park. They also ran our June Street Art Programme where young people designed and painted The Victoria Park Project Hub.
All places for this programme have now been filled. If you have any questions you can contact Youth Involvement Co-ordinator Nicola via email nicola.priest@ashford.gov.uk .
This programme has been made possible by funding from Reconnect Kent.
